Gold Coast portrait photographer in front of palm trees

Hey, I’m Monique, but you can call me Mon. I’m a whole lot of things – a photographer, dreamer, dog-mum, daughter, sister, friend, outdoor enthusiast, and navigationally challenged.

I once tried to join the corporate world, but I’ve never been more happy and grateful to “fail” at something in my life.

I’m a storyteller and portrait photographer based in Noosa on the Sunshine Coast.

But say the word, and I’ll travel for photoshoots anywhere in the world to help tell your story.

To me, photography is a form of poetry. We can create images to feel and be felt, to see and be seen, to connect and individualise. Each time I pick up my camera, I can gift the power to pause time, relive moments, and strengthen feelings.

I find inspiration through the innate power and softness of femininity. My focus centres on empowering portraits, travel, lifestyle, and brand photography – especially for brands with women at the helm.

As a (hopeful) romantic, I’m also honoured to work with all couples and capture unfiltered, unapologetic, unscripted love stories.

Further, as a self-identified “cool” dog-mum, I’m honoured to capture the beautiful love shared between owners and their fur-babies.

I believe in the power of storytelling for all ages and walks of life. I created Monique Amethyst Photography for all the dreamers, doers, lovers, misfits, and wild ones who revel in their chaotic, unique individuality.

I’m known to squeak when I get excited during photoshoots (because I know you’re going to LOVE the shot), and I’ll always have an answer to “what do I do with my hands?”

I provide gentle direction to find flattering poses, because I don’t digitally alter any of my subjects to conform to ridiculous beauty standards.

Like many women, I’ve been influenced and underestimated my self-worth, and I now strive to be a part of the solution. Because when seeing is believing, honest photographers are superheroes.

When I’m not wearing my cape, I’m usually drinking coffee, hiking with my dog, reading, or on a beach – potentially on a long walk.
